que por acaso ou não tinha um
nome grego, era ou se calhar ainda é um daqueles gajos que come o melhor de todas as crises

lembrei-me que aquilo não era usual e comecei a desconfiar que aquilo era um pesadelo grego muito soft, da janela de trás via-se uma subida enorme era talvez o caminho para a dívida ou o mito de Sísifo ou outra mitologia qualquer, a janela estava a um metro do chão, aqui a memória falhou-me que os sonhos esquecem-se depressa, a casa foi aumentada ou inflacionada no sonho, era um 4ºaNDAR mas surgia como um 4ºlugar, não tem altura, prolonga-se para o infinito na parte de trás...que há poucochinho tinha uma janela, aqui começo a desconfiar da realidade, mas como nunca confiei muito nela, lá fui andando, entra-se numa porta com degraus e está uma rapariga deitada, é magra como os refugiados eslavos da guerra ou as anorécticas alemãs e inglesas que andam nas praias gregas...cabelo revolto e olhos azuis, penso é vulgar não é bonita, tirando os olhos, volto a pensar que não é vulgar é estranha como um gato de olhos azuis...Neznámý klonový voják číslo ah penso esta porta não estava ali e as letras ainda menos..eu já vi isto antes mas onde? nem sequer é uma frase que faça assim muito sentido Neznámý klonový voják číslo

The Capitalistic Fire Raisers

also known as The Fortunete OR FORTUNATE IF WITHOUT NET ...IN ANY CASE THE Happy Few

or the Firebugs, of Fortune Firebugs,
or The Global Arsonists, was written by the Fat Cat Max Frisch in 1953,

first as a radio play, then adapted for tele vision and the World or die Welt stage
and since play in six hundred little and big scenes. It was revised in 1971 by Nixon to include an epilogue, or afterpiece….the European fail or the European Bust

This dark comedy is set in a EUROPA von EURO that is being regularly attacked by arsonists A LITTLE LIKE THE PORTUGUESE FOREST

Disguised as door-to-door salesmen of submarines and Mercedes and IPod’s Iphodesphodes und irack’s and other rack’s und rackets (hawkers),

IS A RACKETWORLD they talk their way into people’s homes and settle down in the attic, where they set about the destruction of the house
. Written in the years following World War II,BEFORE WORLD WAR IV AND AFTER THE LITTLE COLD WORLD WAR III THE BEGGINING as a metaphor for Nazism and fascism AND COMUNISM AND CAPITALISM ERGO EVERYTHING WITH ISM LIKE ISLAMISM , the play shows how “normal” citizens can be taken in by evil.

The central character, a businessman OR WARMONGER called Biedermann, is seen at the outset reading newspaper reports of arson, convinced that he could never be taken in. Within minutes, the first “hawker” has appeared (Schmitz), and through a combination of intimidation and persuasion he talks his way into spending the night in the attic. As the play unfolds, a second arsonist appears (Eisenring), and before Biedermann can do anything to stop it, his attic is piled high with oil drums full of petrol. He even helps them to measure the detonating fuse and gives them matches, refusing to believe the full horror of what is happening. He soon becomes an accomplice in his own downfall.

The action is observed by a Greek-style chorus of “firemen”,THE GREEK ARE EVERYWHERE and the increasingly surreal flavour culminates in a final scene, the afterpiece, where Biedermann and his wife Babette find themselves at the gates of Hell. Here they once again meet Schmitz and Eisenring who turn out to be Beelzebub and the Devil respectively, who, after becoming angered at the number of mass murderers being allowed to go to Heaven, refuses to conduct a Hell for a “small fry” like Biedermann.

The name Biedermann is itself a play on the German word “bieder” meaning conventional, conservative, worthy, upright and is frequently used in a pejorative or ironic context. Thus the name equates to der biedere Mann or the worthy man.

It Didn't Have to Be This Way

So says Harry Veryser about the financial meltdown and subsequent Great Recession. Veryser has written a new book explaining that Austrian economics and its policy implications are the key to understanding why this is so. Veryser's book sounds like just what the economic doctor ordered to provide a way out of our mess and to prevent similar messes in the future.

As Veryser says:

For years now, we have endured a barrage of bad news: businesses going belly-up, people losing their jobs and homes, government debt soaring. It didn’t have to be this way. The Austrian School presents the most coherent explication of the economic relations among men and—more so than any other system today—lays out economic guidelines that offer real prospects for prosperity worldwide. 

As indicated above, Veryser  draws upon Austrian Business Cycle Theory to explain the nature of the boom/bust economic cycle, which is also the theory that I discuss in Foundations of Economics. Additionally, I personally know Veryser to be a true gentleman and a scholar. He is presently an associated scholar of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and has served as director of the graduate program in economics at the University of Detroit Mercy and chairman of Walsh College’s Department of Economics and Finance.
